Anxious minutes after my Car failure – Ford EcoSport

As stated in my earlier articles, one fine day my car had showed up error message in the infotainment screen and some dangerous engine light was ON in the dashboard. After consuming the error message that “ABS and Power steering was failure”, I was completely heart-broken and took some time to figure out next steps. Following are my actions post diagnosing the issue in my car: 

• Reached out to customer support: The first step after identifying the error message in the infotainment and lights from the engine dashboard was to call the Ford’s customer support center. The technician was courteous enough to understand the issue and was checking with me about the basic troubleshooting steps. Post confirmation about carrying out basic troubleshooting steps, the service technician initiated the next steps and assured me that the car issue would be taken care of. 
• Car towed to service center: Post call disconnection, the service technician initiated the next steps with the car towing service and was directed to the nearest service center option. The car towing service called immediately and confirmed the vehicle’s location and about space availability for towing into the truck. Post confirmation, within next few hours (2 hours precisely), the truck arrived to tow the car for the nearest service center for diagnosing the issue and resolution.

In such cases, there might be few applications which are used only once in a week or in a month, so Apple could enable a feature to ensure that the cache files are deleted if the applications are not used for a specific time limit and may store only the critical app components in the device. By this feature introduction, the cache files from the application could be removed if it is not used for more than a week or specific time and may acquire user information only if they needed. 
• Set size limit for Apps to store Cache files: Another more important feature enhancement required for individual apps cache management is to set size limit to store the cache files and if the limit is met, then the unwanted or older cache file to be removed automatically. By this way, user could know how much the individual application requires the cache files to store and how much the user is willing to allow the application to store the cache files.

As, I have told in my earlier articles, that after suspecting that my AirPods Pro had manufacturing defect and have been using it for over a year due to several reasons, I have now decided to check out Apple service center for possible options available. So, I wanted to summarize the process by checking out different service centers across the locations and by validating it with Apple’s Chat support. Here is the process: 

• Initial collection process: Once your feel that your AirPods Pro might have manufacturing defect and are eligible for FREE replacements, the first step would be visiting the Apple authorized service center. Post the visit, the entire product would be collected including the case and both AirPods pro headphones. During, collecting the device would be checked for any physical modifications or damages, Apple’s serial number validation and finally will be collected with photo proofs. 
• 24 hours to check any issues: Post device collection, the Apple service center representative would run basic troubleshooting steps for around 24 hours to validate the defect and ensure that product is not altered with any external or third-party counterfeit parts. 
• Product would be shipped: Post running the initial diagnostic process, it would be validated whether the device is eligible for FREE replacement or not, if eligible then Apple would be notified about the replacement eligibility and new would be shipped to service center. 
• 4-5 days to get replacement: Once the product is shipped by Apple to the service center, then it would take around 4-5 working days to reach the service center and the customer would be notified about the replacement. The customer can collect their FREE AirPods Pro headphones at their convenient time.

I have been using iPhone as my primary mobile phone for several years and the most sought-after feature that would like to have in iOS is the lock/unlock option for Applications. Longtime feature or application needed - Call recording option in iPhone

Even though iPhone operating system - iOS has ton of premium features for its users there was one major feature that the operating system feel lack over Android was the "in-built call recording option". For a long time, the Android phones were having call recording feature enabled through freeware or system integrated third party applications and the most users felt those applications were introduced as part of Android system updates due to its simplicity. Review of online collaboration between Google Sheets & OneDrive's Excel

I have been using Excel as my offline application for my business for past few years and yet I use Google Sheets as my preferred online collaboration sheet for several reasons. So, I wanted this article to focus on features comparison between Google Sheets and OneDrive's Excel sheet. Issues in Windows OS and lack of availability for locking browsers

I have been using windows laptop for my office work and strangely I was not able to lock certain actions or password protect applications. To detail further, following are my expectations on my windows laptop and shortcomings in each of those actions. 

• Locking browser: I wanted the browser to be locked for my employees and should be opened only when they enter password or authenticated only for specific employees. However, there are many applications available for windows and most of those applications are termed as EXE locker and lock when those applications are executed. The browser will not work like normal applications and the moment when EXE file is locked, the browser will get stuck and will not work, as it used to work. Only when the application is completely reinstalled or EXE locker is removed, the browser would work normally. 
• Locking extensions/add-ons in browsers: There are ton of add-ons or extensions available for all browsers, promising to lock the browser at start-up or would lock specific URL with defined passwords. However, post installation most add-ons or browser extensions does not work and often gets crashed or does not serve the promised purpose. The most frustrating part is, these browser extensions or add-ons are still available in the respective browsers with high ratings, even though they do not work as detailed.

Indian Apple music lovers were left in lurch with no update

In recent Apple WWDC held on June 2021, Apple had announced launch of Dolby Atmos support for entire music catalogue available in Apple Music. Few hours after the launch, most users across globe have started posting update on availability of Dolby Atmos features in their Apple Music catalogue. However, users in India have started to post their comments, that even though they had both Apple subscription and latest software update, they were unable to get exclusive Dolby features in their catalogue. The users understand that is may take some for rolling out the features across globe and hope it would be available sooner than later. The delay in availability of Dolby features for Indian users is a real shocker and it impacts Apple brand in the country. India being a market potential country for Apple, they should have released the features to users while it was rolled out across globe out if they had legal obstruction in releasing the feature, it should have provided at least update to its loyal users. My Apple Watch predictions for 2021

I was following apple’s launch events and products for a long time, with recent announcements, I was expecting few products update from Apple. Especially on Apple Watch, here are my expectations for Apple Watch.

• All modern design: Apple Watch was not redesigned for a long time, so it was due for redesign since launch and the old design seems to be consistent across versions. 
• Exclusive features for Watch 7: With design being same for all version of Apple watches, the time has come to have exclusive features for top end version of Apple Watch 7. This exclusive feature will be coupled with new redesign. 
• Change in pricing: By launching Watch SE, Apple has made a statement that it is eyeing market share of low-priced wearable devices. So, in the upcoming version of Apple Watch, Apple will keep the same old design for its low-priced device and keep the features unchanged with only minor additions. 
• New band designs: Apple wants to evolve its wearable design market and with people are sticking with Apple Watch for a long time, new bands with exclusive design will add additional source of income. So, Apple is likely to bring in new bands with exclusive designs and style options.

Trying to fix my MacBook Pro swollen battery

As you may aware that my MacBook Pro’s battery has swollen, and I was completely shattered about it. To resolve the issue, I was trying out diverse ways, like removed the screws under swollen battery section to allow some air to pass, tried resetting the SMC in my MacBook pro to further safeguard the battery from degrading further and reconnected the battery into the board to ensure connections are in place. However, even after trying out all measures, the service now battery indicator was flashing in my MacBook Pro and with no other options left, I was even researching in internet about the possibility of using MacBook Pro even after the swollen battery. The research was raising its flag that, similar users was warning about continued usage of swollen battery and the professionals were also recommending people not to continue usage of swollen battery. With these results, I had two options ahead of me, one is to look out for alternative battery replacement options available and the other was to completely replace the old MacBook Pro with the new one. My iPhone 6 finally died after 5 years

My iPhone 6 has started to wear off due to our age and internal components struggling to meet upcoming latest updates. With all these issues starting to show off its indications, I wanted to hold the old phone for a few more months before the launch of the updated version of the iPhone. Out of nowhere, one fine day my daughter threw my iPhone from her bed and my iPhone’s screen shattered in seconds. I still wanted to wait for the latest version of the iPhone and continued to use my iPhone 6 with a shattered screen. Post this accident, my iPhone started to act weird and the battery was draining faster than expected, I still did not stop using my iPhone. One fine day, after leaving my iPhone for charge the whole night, it did not turn up the next day. New random updates from my manager

Work with the irritating onsite team was continuing for a while and with little support from my stupid manager, I was just looking forward to closing the work as early as possible. However, one fine day, the onsite team, scheduled the call early in the morning, and my manager called me for attending the call. I was furious, as there were no prior communications and updates from the onsite team. On purpose, I joined the call a bit late and by the time I joined the call, the call got over and the onsite team requested me to get insights from my manager. Now, I was screwed even more further as my manager complicates the requirements shared by him, and he would share unnecessary insights irrelevant for the opportunity. As usual, I called him up to get the knowledge transition about the morning call, and he shared some rubbish insights and I double-checked with him about the exact client requirements. With no further update from my manager, I had no option but to work on the slides requested by my manager, and little did I knew that the exact opposite details were shared by the onsite team. Entry into the initial phase of lockdown

After completing my work at the end of the day, I logged off from my office laptop and was worried about getting back to the office after my long vacation. But, little did I knew that all my hopes would have vanished within a span of a few days and it did not change my life alone and shook the entire world. I took a long vacation with the plan of traveling to my brothers' place and spend quality time with family and children. However, with the recent Covid-19 pandemic getting close to all parts of the country, all companies were requesting their employees to connect from home and fortunately, my brother was also able to reach native. Initially, we were discussing that faraway place would be infected with Coronavirus, and with each day passing by, the impact was bigger than we ever anticipated. Within a few days, the entire country was put under complete lockdown and since I was on a long vacation, I did not have much impact on the lockdown. Final reminder to on-site team to get updates

So, for the second consecutive day, I and the offshore delivery lead have not got any updates from the on-site team and they haven’t even confirmed, whether our thought-process was on the right track to meet client requirements. With each passing day, both the delivery lead and I were getting anxious about the outcome, because I have my vacation planned in the next few days and the delivery does not want to extend for such a long time. The moment I entered into office with no updates from the on-site team and with no insight about the next step, I got a brilliant idea to have a discussion with my manager. Thankfully, I have kept my manger informed about all the processes happening and difficulties we face due to delayed/no updates from the on-site team. I also discussed my upcoming vacation plans and with no response from the on-site team, it is getting complicated to complete the service request as early as possible. My manager suggested dropping a note to the on-site team for the updates and further informing them that I would not be available post the next few days and the delivery team had to take ownership of completion. I was waiting until the end of the day to get an update and finally, I dropped a note to the on-site team that my manger suggested. Balancing between existing and new work

I have conveyed to my manager that I have already compiled most of the documents and only a few more updates to be made and it can be made by the respective team who was already working and has background about the service request. In addition, I was looped to support a new service request and the new team has already sent out escalation mails. My manager after hearing out this lengthy conversation, finally convened that he would drop a note to the new service request delivery leads that I am completely out of bandwidth. However, my manager did not even drop a single note and all he did was just talking and unofficial chat with the delivery point of contact. As each day passed by, the new delivery team was getting anxious and worried about the completion of the document before the due date. I had no other option but to support my colleagues for the completion of the document, that they were working on. Meanwhile, without detailing anything to my manager or my colleagues, I sneaked few hours of my time to the new opportunity and was trying to compile as much information as possible and I kept this so secretive that I didn’t even share the work in progress document to the new team. Unwanted redundant work

Meanwhile, when my manager was requesting me to put some effort on the slides to bring it into some shape, he has also made call to my teammate on weekend and requesting him to send some sample slides for reference. My teammate has no clue about the background nor actual work on the slide, he was sending few decks for my reference. I was in middle of all these chaos, as no one has exact background on the service request and purpose of the slides, but they want some information in the slides for discussion in the call. My point was, when we all know that service request was about to start and it will take multiple iterations & leadership reviews before it gets completed, then why do we want to work on unnecessary slides and complete nonsense stuff. Finally, based on my understanding of the service request, I have made some modifications, done some research and went through existing repositories for reusable contents in the slides and sent to the team for review. Headed for vacation with irritating opportunity

But, the initial days of my vacation was calm and quiet and no major update from the opportunity and suddenly in middle of my vacation, early in the morning I got a call from my manager requesting, whether I would be able to join a call for the same opportunity and I was shell shocked. Out of no options, I told I can join the call and would be on mute, as there was some carpeting work going on in my home. Finally, I joined the call and was on mute for a few minutes, later the call started and out of nowhere the on-site delivery lead started to question my manager, that what update has been made from my end for the last two or three days. For one time my manager supported me and was raising question to the delivery point of contact and the onsite lead, that what information has been shared to me and what was the action item pending from my end. Blasted by offshore delivery lead during the review

The offshore delivery POC and I were reviewing the slides and modifying it based upon the on-site team updates and in meantime I have also had scheduled a call with the offshore delivery lead for his inputs as well. Call with offshore delivery POC were going in smooth manner and was hoping the same to be with the offshore delivery lead. The call with the offshore lead started the initial two slides where the standard one and there was no much comment on it, he moved on to the other slides and was reviewing it each and every line and was validating it with me. As he moved on with the other slides, he was asking me the purpose of the slides and requesting me to check with all my team members and put in relevant slides. At one point he was completely furious and was checking with me what I was doing in the entire day and there was no much update to the deck than the older version, I was completely furious hearing it, how can he say that I have never worked on this slides? Iterative changes for opportunity from irritating POC

As called out in earlier posts at “G R Team Sites” that I have been assigned to work with one of the most irritating delivery person in the team and was left all alone as offshore delivery leader have clearly called out that support would not be available from offshore team. Initial calls were to add few slides to the deck, but later on, it went to changes to every part of it. At one point of time, I had to modify every slide with too many updates. However, with my skills and repository, I was able to close off all updates by end of the day with hope that there would not be any changes in the next day. Nevertheless, every day I would get new changes to be made and modifications to structure of the deck with new storyline. I have shared the decks they were looking for and even pinged in office communicator to validate the information and even got confirmation that these are the decks they are currently looking for and I closed the loop and started to my home. After an hour, my manager calls me and asks whether I have shared the deck with the team, and I replied affirmative stating that I have shared the deck with the team and have also forwarded the mail trail to my manager. The next day early in the morning, I get call from that account lead stating that my manager has assigned me for this opportunity and there is a call scheduled in next 30 mins and asking me to join the call. Since, it is the first time ever I was working with this team, I didn’t want to ruin my reputation with that team and joined the call. After few mins of the call, I understood the urgency in completing the opportunity and they wanted to close the opportunity in next two days and it seems lot of work to do done. Taking office call on travel

Exactly on Friday evening I was assigned with two different opportunities, one opportunity had no work as the delivery team need to work on estimates and another opportunity had very short turnaround time and on first day I had to share questionnaire with the client. However, on that Friday evening I was planning to drive back to my native and initially the call was scheduled early in the evening and at last minute the call was postponed even more later in the evening. Now I have no options left other than taking office call while driving back to my native and I was sure the reception would be bad due to travel. I joined the call from my car and initial call discussion was all about introduction and possible scope for my team and when exact time had come for my team to raise question, the reception failed miserably and I had to stop the car on side of the road to take the call and to my rescue the delivery expert had joined the call and was raising the questions. Leadership review of opportunity with new delivery expert

After making changes to the deck, I shared the deck with leadership as suggested by this new delivery expert with whom I was working for the first time and she was too hesitant to spend even few minutes on this opportunity. The changes were minimal and it hardly took few minutes for me to make the changes and I have completed it and shared it with the leadership for review. The leadership review call was scheduled for the next day and I was hoping everything would be fine. But all turned to be on the air, once the leadership saw the deck they were questioning about the solution part left, right and center, the delivery expert tried to manage and there were lot of changes suggested by the leadership team. At last after suggesting lot of changes, the leadership gave green card for the deck to be shared with accounts team for submission to the client. Stupid enough to use two laptops

To summarize, I wanted to narrate my experience during Chennai rains at 2015 and how stupid I have been by using two laptops. Since I had no office during the first day of heavy rains, I opened up my MacBook Pro and started to stream YouTube videos to my TV’s chrome-cast. The maid came late at around 10 AM and as usual she cleaned up the home, washed used dishes and made rice and left for the day. During her work at my home, we were discussing how horrible the rain was and hoping it would end within few hours and everything would be normal by tomorrow morning. Now I was all alone at my home, my parents were at native and I used to stay alone at my Chennai home. Maid left at around 10:30 AM and I asked her to be safe as the rains are getting heavier as each hour passes by. I was enjoying my leisure time at my home watching some random YouTube videos casting from my MacBook Pro to TV. I logged in for the call and finished my updates in the first few minutes and later on, the SME was discussing about some technical and project related stuff. I was least interested in listening to those discussion and as usual I was browsing through social sites for some information related to my Salary revision and one person posted an update mentioning that he/she got her revision letter in the portal and I was shell shocked. I immediately logged in to the portal and shocked to know that salary revision letter has been released. Complex opportunity with difficult SME

After a long time, I was again assigned with the complex opportunity to work on and was preparing myself for the opportunity. Usually whenever I was assigned with the complex opportunity to work, I was tagged to the delivery expert with whom I have good rapport and, in the past, we have completed complex opportunity with ease and minimal effort. So, for this time as well I was looking forward to work with the same delivery expert and had contacted with him for further effort required on this opportunity. To my surprise I heard a shell shocking news that he would not be able to support me on this opportunity and also, I had to work with one more delivery expert for this complex opportunity. I thought the delivery expert would be cool and I would finish this complex opportunity with ease. However, the exact opposite thing happened to me and I came to know that he is the most complex person to work with of all the delivery person I had worked earlier in this company. The day in IT

Morning I woke very late at the neck of the moment to take my office call. I have habit of drinking coffee daily in the morning and had to rush for making it. During coffee making process I was too lazy to even see what’s happening to the boiling milk and then suddenly I get message from the Delivery POC with whom I was working on an opportunity. The message detailed please share me the meeting number to join the call, then I had to login through my mobile and copy the meeting number, paste it in the message and had to send it. In all these process, my milk was boiled and I was late for about 5 mins, coffee was tasting worser than ever. After having that badly tasting coffee,I rushed to join my office call. The call was going on and on for a very long time, I was tired of hearing all the unnecessary topic discussions and all of a sudden some random key POC was talking about my scope and I was completely no clue about what they were talking.
