- Resistance to heat and cold: Silicone is popular for the tolerance of extreme temperature. Most silicone has a operating temperature of -50°C to around +250°C. Apart from that there are special types of silicone which can endure an even greater range of temperatures. Whereas in term of cold resistance, the embrittlement point of silicone rubbers is -60° to -70°C.
- Higher longevity in Hostile Environment: A silicone is thermal resistance that means the silicone products have exceptional weather ability. It can be exposed to the sun UV rays, wind and rain for a long period of time with no change of its physical property. It has a higher durable as compared to other products like organic rubber. Apart from that, a silicone rubbers are good resist with the radiation and used for the manufacturing products like cables, connectors etc.
- High Purity: A silicone rubber is exceptionally pure as compare to other products. It is suitable for use for the medical and the food industry. Additionally custom silicone products are safe for the sensitive applications.
- Good Flame Ratardancy: Flame raterdancy properties can be added in the silicone rubber by adding a small amount of flame retardant. When they do burn, they will not produce black smoke or toxic gas like other organic polymer rubber. Apart from that silicone rubber are suitable for the electronic items or equipments.
- Highly Versatile: Silicone rubber can be mold or shaped according to the requirements. Apart from that, this material can be converted in soft and hard equipments according to the need.

Updated September 2026: in 2022 my Ford EcoSport suddenly showed "ABS and power steering failure" on the infotainment screen with warning lights on the dashboard. I called Ford's customer support, who walked me through basic checks. I have rewritten it into a guide to what to do when serious warning lights appear. Always follow your car's manual and professional advice.
The message on the screen said the ABS and power steering had failed, and warning lights came on. I was shaken, and took a moment to decide what to do. My first step was to call Ford's customer support, where a technician calmly checked some basic troubleshooting steps with me.
What do ABS and power steering warnings mean?
ABS, the anti-lock braking system, stops wheels locking under hard braking. If it fails, normal brakes usually still work, but without anti-lock protection. Electric power steering failure makes the steering much heavier, though the car can still be steered. Both warnings need attention promptly.
What should you do immediately?
- Slow down gently and pull over somewhere safe.
- Switch on hazard lights.
- Turn the engine off and restart after a minute; some electrical faults clear on restart.
- Check the manual for what each warning light means.
Should you keep driving?
If steering is heavy or braking feels different, do not drive further; call roadside assistance. If the warning clears and the car behaves normally, drive carefully and directly to a service centre. Never ignore a red warning light.
What can cause both warnings together?
A shared electrical cause is common: a weak battery, a loose connection, damaged wiring or a faulty sensor can trigger several systems at once. In my case, the cause was later traced to wiring chewed by a rodent, which was a simple repair once found.
How do you prevent electrical faults?
Replace an ageing car battery before it fails, have wiring checked at services if the car is parked for long periods, and keep the parking area free of anything that attracts rodents.
Why call customer support first?
They can guide basic checks, tell you whether the car is safe to drive and arrange a tow to an authorised centre. Keep the roadside assistance number saved in your phone and in the car.
