Balancing between existing and new work

I have conveyed to my manager that I have already compiled most of the documents and only a few more updates to be made and it can be made by the respective team who was already working and has background about the service request. In addition, I was looped to support a new service request and the new team has already sent out escalation mails. My manager after hearing out this lengthy conversation, finally convened that he would drop a note to the new service request delivery leads that I am completely out of bandwidth. However, my manager did not even drop a single note and all he did was just talking and unofficial chat with the delivery point of contact. As each day passed by, the new delivery team was getting anxious and worried about the completion of the document before the due date. I had no other option but to support my colleagues for the completion of the document, that they were working on. Meanwhile, without detailing anything to my manager or my colleagues, I sneaked few hours of my time to the new opportunity and was trying to compile as much information as possible and I kept this so secretive that I didn’t even share the work in progress document to the new team. Unwanted redundant work

Meanwhile, when my manager was requesting me to put some effort on the slides to bring it into some shape, he has also made call to my teammate on weekend and requesting him to send some sample slides for reference. My teammate has no clue about the background nor actual work on the slide, he was sending few decks for my reference. I was in middle of all these chaos, as no one has exact background on the service request and purpose of the slides, but they want some information in the slides for discussion in the call. My point was, when we all know that service request was about to start and it will take multiple iterations & leadership reviews before it gets completed, then why do we want to work on unnecessary slides and complete nonsense stuff. Finally, based on my understanding of the service request, I have made some modifications, done some research and went through existing repositories for reusable contents in the slides and sent to the team for review. Headed for vacation with irritating opportunity

But, the initial days of my vacation was calm and quiet and no major update from the opportunity and suddenly in middle of my vacation, early in the morning I got a call from my manager requesting, whether I would be able to join a call for the same opportunity and I was shell shocked. Out of no options, I told I can join the call and would be on mute, as there was some carpeting work going on in my home. Finally, I joined the call and was on mute for a few minutes, later the call started and out of nowhere the on-site delivery lead started to question my manager, that what update has been made from my end for the last two or three days. For one time my manager supported me and was raising question to the delivery point of contact and the onsite lead, that what information has been shared to me and what was the action item pending from my end. Blasted by offshore delivery lead during the review

The offshore delivery POC and I were reviewing the slides and modifying it based upon the on-site team updates and in meantime I have also had scheduled a call with the offshore delivery lead for his inputs as well. Call with offshore delivery POC were going in smooth manner and was hoping the same to be with the offshore delivery lead. The call with the offshore lead started the initial two slides where the standard one and there was no much comment on it, he moved on to the other slides and was reviewing it each and every line and was validating it with me. As he moved on with the other slides, he was asking me the purpose of the slides and requesting me to check with all my team members and put in relevant slides. At one point he was completely furious and was checking with me what I was doing in the entire day and there was no much update to the deck than the older version, I was completely furious hearing it, how can he say that I have never worked on this slides? And he was expecting me to update all the slides based on my knowledge. Know more about what happened at G R Team sites.

Iterative changes for opportunity from irritating POC

As called out in earlier posts at “G R Team Sites” that I have been assigned to work with one of the most irritating delivery person in the team and was left all alone as offshore delivery leader have clearly called out that support would not be available from offshore team. Initial calls were to add few slides to the deck, but later on, it went to changes to every part of it. At one point of time, I had to modify every slide with too many updates. However, with my skills and repository, I was able to close off all updates by end of the day with hope that there would not be any changes in the next day. Nevertheless, every day I would get new changes to be made and modifications to structure of the deck with new storyline. Continuing work with that irritating delivery team.

I have shared the decks they were looking for and even pinged in office communicator to validate the information and even got confirmation that these are the decks they are currently looking for and I closed the loop and started to my home. After an hour, my manager calls me and asks whether I have shared the deck with the team, and I replied affirmative stating that I have shared the deck with the team and have also forwarded the mail trail to my manager. The next day early in the morning, I get call from that account lead stating that my manager has assigned me for this opportunity and there is a call scheduled in next 30 mins and asking me to join the call. Since, it is the first time ever I was working with this team, I didn’t want to ruin my reputation with that team and joined the call. After few mins of the call, I understood the urgency in completing the opportunity and they wanted to close the opportunity in next two days and it seems lot of work to do done.
